Zephyr

Zephyr offers simultaneous search and access to the Hellenic Academic Libraries OPACs (Online Public Access Catalogues).

For better results, omit punctuation when searching foreign terms (ex instead of ö, just o), in order to get the best possible results.

  

National Library of Greece

The National Library of Greece holds rich collections of items of various types searchable via its Online Catalog.

Library of the Hellenic Parliament

The Library of the Hellenic Parliament constitute: a) the Main Library, which is housed in the Parliament building, b) the Benakeios Library (Anthimou Gazi st. 2), which is temporarily housed in the former Public Tobacco Factory and c) the City Library - Former Public Tobacco Factory (Lenorman st. 218). The Library’s collections include a wide variety of items (books, journals, maps, etc.) that are searchable via its Online Catalog.

openABEKT Central Catalogue

The openABEKT Central Catalogue allows browsing and searching in the content of hundreds of Libraries that use the openABEKT service provided by the National Documentation Centre of Greece.

National Union Catalogue of Scientific Journals (ESKEP)

The National Union Catalogue of Scientific Journals, developed by the National Documentation Centre of Greece, contains bibliographic data on both printed and electronic scientific journals of all disciplines which are available at Greek libraries. For every journal title information is provided about the libraries that hold the specific journal and their collections.

Catalogue Collectif de France (CCFR)

The Union Catalogue of France (Catalogue Collectif de France – CCFr) allows simultaneous access to major French catalogs among which:

  • the catalog of the National Library of France (BnF-CG)
  • the catalog of French Academic Libraries (SUDOC)
  • the catalog of the digital collections of French municipal Libraries (CGM)

Gallica

Gallica is the digital library of the National Library of France. It provides access to millions of items (books, manuscripts, images, maps, videos etc.) related to almost all disciplines of sciences.

Library Hub Discover provides access to the holdings of the UK’s National Libraries (including the British Library), many university libraries, and specialist research libraries.

National Library of Medicine (NLM) Catalog

The Catalog of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) of the United States of America provides access to the Library’s bibliographic data for books, journals, electronic resources and other materials.

Libdex

Libdex is a worldwide directory of library websites that can be browsed by country. It provides links to library homepages and web-based catalogs (OPACs),

WorldCat.org

WorldCat.org is a union catalog that contains the holdings of thousands of Libraries worldwide that are members of the OCLC, a nonprofit cooperative organization. It includes millions of records of various types of library materials (physical and electronic) and, in addition, functions as a database providing links to available digital content (journal articles, research materials etc.). WorldCat.org enables users to locate materials in the nearest Libraries by highlighting them in the search results and even search Libraries by name or location.

DART-Europe E-theses Portal

DART-Europe E-theses Portal provides access to research theses held in European repositories.

KATOPTRON

KATOPTRON is an integrated IT system, which manages in a unified way historical information, relating to Greek education, philosophy and sciences from the 17th century to the beginning of the 19th century. It includes printed books, manuscripts, biographies as well as dictionaries of scientific terms.

KATOPTRON collections are created in the Laboratory for the Electronic Processing of Historical Archives of the Department of History and Philosophy of Science of NKUA. The design and implementation of the unified information system KATOPTRON was done by the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of NKUA.

ANEMI

Anemi was founded in 2006 by the University of Crete Library aiming to provide free access to a rich collection of digitized material (books, articles) related to Modern Greek Studies.

Access is provided solely for personal, educational or research purposes. Systematic storage and/or printing of the whole content of the digital items is strictly forbidden. Commercial use is strictly prohibited.

EUROPEANA

The Europeana website offers access to millions of items of various types (books, videos, etc.) from providing institutions across Europe, relating to European cultural heritage.

INTERNET ARCHIVE

The Internet Archive is a nonprofit organization that has created a digital library providing researchers, historians, scholars, people with print disabilities, and the general public free access to:

  • web pages
  • books and texts
  • audio recordings (including live concerts)
  • videos (including Television News programs)
  • images
  • software programs

In addition, they digitize books, among which books published in or prior to 1928 are available for download. The most of the digitized books are available to people with print disabilities (For more information see here).
