History
The Library of Health Sciences, the only one of its kind in Athens, opened in 1996, and the first President of the Library Committee was Professor Phedon Fessas.
As Hippocrates said
“The ability to study correctly what has been written
is an important part of the art of Medicine”
Having this in mind, since the establishment of our library we try to make biomedical study easier and we aim to contribute to the progress of biomedical practice in Greece. Being the Central Library of the School of Health Sciences, we always try to support its education and the research activities.
Now, the Health Sciences Library collection has been enriched with more printed and electronic books, journals and databases. A good library is a living institution, with a staff of dedicated research professionals, growing step by step with the community it serves. And in the land of Hippocrates, we believe a library can and should be more than just a collection of books – it should embody the search for knowledge, in all its forms.
